We have been repeatedly asked to draft both federal and state legislation and helped author the Cruise Industry Revitalization Act of 1996, in addition to other significant tort reform measures, including limitations on emotional distress damages and medical negligence claims. The firm is regularly engaged to assist vessel interests, shippers, consignees, importers of record and customs brokers with legal matters initiated by the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol, United States Coast Guard, the State of California, and various county regulatory agencies. Firm attorneys defend matters involving the imposition of fines, seizure of cargo, revocation and suspension of licenses, and alleged violations of environmental regulations.
